Free configuration

What you can configure

Tune Rust oven processing, fuel consumption and output with rules for each oven type.

Edit permission checks, speed, fuel, output, input lists and smelting frequency in the form. Add named oven/item rules using actual Rust shortnames; no raw JSON is required.

Speed up small furnaces without adding an output bonus

  1. In Speed Multipliers, keep global at 1 and add furnace with value 2. In Smelting Frequencies (Smelt items every N smelting ticks), keep global at 1.
  2. In both fuel sections, keep global at 1. Under Output Multipliers, keep a global oven entry containing a global item set to 1; remove conflicting oven overrides and unused sample entries.
  3. With Use Permission true, grant quicksmelt.use to the intended players. Reload QuickSmelt and compare ore, output and fuel on a test small furnace.

Speed, fuel and output are separate controls, not a guaranteed fuel-per-ore ratio. At toggle time either the owner or the player switching the oven can qualify.

Double metal-fragment output in small furnaces only

  1. In Output Multipliers, keep a global oven entry with its global item at 1. Add a furnace oven entry; inside it, set global to 1 and add metal.fragments with value 2.
  2. Keep speed, both fuel maps and smelting frequency at global 1 for an isolated output test; remove conflicting per-oven entries.
  3. Reload the plugin and test metal ore in a small furnace and a large furnace with eligible players; inspect existing Whitelist/Blacklist input rules.

Common questions

Why do my rules not apply to a furnace?

Use an actual oven shortname such as furnace or furnace.large, not furnace.shortname. A matching oven entry takes precedence over global. With Use Permission enabled, the pinned toggle path accepts an eligible owner OR an eligible player operating the oven.

Do input lists use ore names or output names?

Whitelist and Blacklist check the input item shortname; Output Multipliers checks the output shortname. If an input appears in both effective lists, the blacklist wins. A missing whitelist entry is not automatically denied: normal cooking checks still apply.

Before you export

  • Quick Smelt 5.1.5, the latest uMod release checked, fails to compile on the tested Rust 2634/Oxide server: ItemModCookable.CanBeCookedByAtTemperature is missing.
  • Use positive speed/fuel/output multipliers and a smelting frequency of at least 1. Zero frequency reaches a modulo operation; schema validation alone does not enforce these runtime safeguards.
  • Placeholder shortnames in the pinned default are examples. Oven-specific maps replace their global fallback rather than merging every global rule; test the complete configuration.
Server permissions
quicksmelt.use
Qualify for configured rules when Use Permission is true; the oven toggle checks owner or operating player.
