What you can configure
Set container loot amounts and edit actual per-prefab loot tables on a Rust server.
Edit BetterLoot.json plus the Blacklist, LootTables, LootGroups and GatherRates Data files. The 2× example changes only BetterLoot.json; a specific container needs its actual LootTables entry.
Prepare 2× container loot
- Open Examples in the Better Loot configurator and choose 2× loot and added scrap. It sets Loot Multiplier and the plugin's Scrap Multipler field to 2.
- Export BetterLoot.json and apply it to a test server running Better Loot 4.5.2. For a particular container, import its current LootTables.json before changing its prefab entry.
- Reload the plugin and inspect loot from a watched, enabled container. Check an item stack and added table scrap separately.
In Vanilla overlay mode, the multiplier respects stack limits. Existing Vanilla scrap is not doubled; only positive scrap added by a table is multiplied.
Common questions
Does 2× loot create new container tables?
No. The example edits only the global config. Import the server's actual LootTables.json to edit a specific prefab; the live result still needs a container check.
Are edited GatherRates entries applied after reload?
Not reliably in Better Loot 4.5.2. Default gather-output entries can appear before the imported values; the plugin uses the first matching shortname. A live test found an edited amount ignored. Treat GatherRates changes as unconfirmed until that behavior is fixed and tested.
Before you export
- GatherRates has a confirmed 4.5.2 loading issue; LootTables editing is a separate task.
- Check a live container after applying a loot change; export and reload alone cannot confirm its contents.
